Everything By Electricity #5 - Abyss

Facebookeverythingbyelectricity.com

Very glad to welcome Everything By Electricity back to these pages again, as a long time follower - this is a band without any official release that I first mentioned here two and a half years ago - I keep wondering where they are /pi hong for a live return / release news. Now, perhaps we are nearing the time for those questions to be answered...

Last week the seemingly still London based trio reveled a new track "Abyss" and its a beauty, continuing with the retro-synth soundscapes heard on last years re-birth with Yulia's soft-focus vocals stealing the show amongst a swooning tapestry of glacial guitars, shimmering effects and propeller-like beats. Simply put it's utterly delicious.

I'm pretty sure I've asked EbE not to stay away from us for so long, I'm going to do so again.

Everything by Electricity #4 - Hello Nothing

Facebook / everythingbyelectricity.com

Everything by Electricity have been a new band favourite of mine since way back in March 2012 when I did an introducing piece that talked about the London based trio's ringing guitar chords and anthemic wall of sound, I saw them perform once shortly after and then nothing, I feared the worst. A re-birth occurred in May 2013 with the band introducing a more synth orientated sound with glistening synths and soft, dream-inducing vocals. The result was pure beauty.

Reminiscing aside, I'm here to talk about "Hello Nothing", a new/old track (it's actually one of the original demos - the one I originally said was my favourite) which has been suitably updated in keeping with the 'new' sound, amongst propeller synths is this heavenly tapestry of swooning, retro-cool soundscapes, glacial guitars and gorgeous vocals, the result is an intoxicating combination that pulls you in, seduces you and leaves you begging for more. Please don't leave it so long next time guys?!

Everything By Electricity #3 - Novocaine

Facebookeverythingbyelectricity.com

Everything By Electricity return with new / old song "Novocaine" which is actually one of three tracks which took my fancy way back when (March 2012), now re-birthed with a more synthetic sound the London based trio have given the track a similar make-over, the result is equally spectacular...

Whilst not completely gone, the anthemic, ringing power pop guitar chords have been transformed with layers of glistening electronic beauty, slower and infinitely more beautiful than ever before "Novocaine" now drips with icy cool synths and soft, silky vocals throughout and to put it simply, is adjective defying gorgeous.

Now all we're missing is live shows and a release date...

Everything By Electricity #2 - A New Introduction

Facebook / everythingbyelectricity.com

One of the main reasons I continue this blog is the buzz of discovering new music, it's why I try and feature and support new bands (and follow them there after) as much as possible. One of my favourite "Introducing" blogs from early last year was London based trio Everything By Electricity (here's my initial post from March 2012), I went and watched the band play at Hoxton Bar & Kitchen shortly after that post and was preparing to have them as one of my 'new favourite things' but then it went quiet, very quiet. In fact, so much so that I thought the band had quietly disbanded, until the weekend just gone...

Two new tracks appeared (the initial three tracks that had me purring like a kitten have been removed) introducing a developed, more synth dependent sound but one that is still in keeping with the gorgeous pop sensibilities previous identified. Any concerns of a change in direction quickly evaporate with the pure, unadulterated beauty of" Violet Haze" as Yulia's dreamy vocals glide silky smooth over glistening synths and precise percussion whilst chugging reverb-heavy guitar riffs lie underneath. The equally excellent "Story of You" is more dramatic, 80's-tinged retro-futurism with sparking melody and shiny, heavenly vocals. Quite the return then...

If you are new to EbE I do hope the initial three tracks make a re-appearance soon enough, they are far too good to be resigned to history. Hopefully gigs and more will be announced soon.

Everything by Electricity - New Music "Introducing"

Facebook / everythingbyelectricity.com/

Everything By Electricity are a newly formed London based trio who came to my attention last week, I was unable to make what was only their second ever London gig at the Old Blue Last but I’ve only heard good things about it, which comes as no surprise given the incredible promise portrayed on their three online tracks.

“Lights Down Low” is simply gorgeous, shimmering guitars, sparkling synths and dreamy vocals, it's a combination made in the heavens. I keep thinking about 'Fantasies' era Metric whilst listening, perhaps it's the enchanting vocals, the way they fit so perfectly around the glistening pop melody and the luscious effect it all has on my body.

“Novocaine” is equally impressive, pure pop sensibilities run through ringing guitar chords and crashing, punchy beats, cascading beautifully to a powerful and engaging finale, the best though is perhaps “Hello Nothing”, surely a future signature live track, intelligently composed it gradually builds around waves of rich, textured guitars to reach an almost anthemic wall of sound, noise and beauty so perfectly entwined, this is a band with a great future ahead of them. For three debut tracks, they are quite something. Best of all? These are only demos!

Everything by Electricity play Hoxton Bar & Kitchen on March 20th - details.
