Hope you are all ready for a great weekend, in the UK at least it looks set to be another stunning one, perhaps here's a track you'll want to listen to as the sun shines down on you, it's by Lockets and it's released on Beautiful Strange next month.

"Girl" is the second track taken from the forthcoming 10" vinyl EP release "Surrender" - the title track I've already mentioned - with the flip side including two remixes by Sun Glitters and Fear Club. It's going to be released on transparent orange vinyl limited to just 300 copies and the first 50 orders (25 ROW via Beautiful Strange Bandcamp and 25 US via Lockets) orders come with a free "Surrender" alternative art print designed by Cristina Rose which you can see in the picture above - it looks pretty great I hope you agree.

Every now and then a band comes along that you love and cherish and hold close to you heart no matter if you are listening to them or not, Lockets were one of those bands for me last year after a series of knock-out single that I covered with glowing praise here. Later it was a great honour that my little label Beautiful Strange put out the Philly duo's debut LP Camera Shy on vinyl - a limited release which you can stream via Bandcamp (US via http://lockets.bandcamp.com/).

Now there's more good news, "Surrender" is the lead track from a new 7" single that will be released on July 8/9th (available now digitally via the Lockets BC link above) with the first 50 vinyl pre-orders (25 UK / 25 US) coming with a limited art print of the cover - I can't wait to share that with you - the vinyl pre-order link is coming very soon.

As I've said before, I'll let others critique Beautiful Strange releases so I'll quote from yesterday's premiére via Beautiful Decay; "the lush song is filled with big beats and huge synths and Todd from the band says, “this is probably the most pop oriented track we’ve done”. You're going to love it.

A Beautiful Strange update coming up, I hope you don't mind too much but this (for me, at least) is exciting news that I think a few readers of this blog will enjoy it too....

A band who started as nothing more than a act whom I enjoyed listening to (and featured multiple times here), I now find myself releasing via my little independent label. Lockets, whose debut LP Camera Shy was self-released digitally over the summer has now been remastered especially for a limited vinyl release due later this year via Beautiful Strange. All of the details are below, as I now fit firmly in the biased realm I'll let others do the reviewing (you should, it's bloody wonderful)...

Lockets make music that sounds like people falling in love, on their three outstanding tracks so far this year their woozy, illuminating dream pop has soothed minds and blossomed the feeling of warmth and comfort. The good news today is the Philly duo are back with their fourth track, "Treasures You Lost" (available for free download below for a limited time only).

I'm getting that familiar tingling feeling again. "Treasures You Lost" has it all, Lockets signature heart plucking melodies paint a rich, intoxicating landscape for Todd's sublime production work, loitering against haunting chiming guitar that Dani weaves her soft, beautiful voice over. The very definition of luscious.

The single is taken from the bands debut full-length 'Camera Shy' which is due over the summer, I hope someone's given them enough money to pay for an airfare to London.

Philly's Lockets sent many hearts a flutter with their warm and intoxicating debut tracks "Catch Me" and "Camera Shy", last week saw the release of their third, "Bitter Teeth" and honestly, it's their best yet.

"Bitter Teeth" transcends its shoegaze / dream-pop influences to be something that is ultimately original, Todd's production work subtle and incandescent, the illuminating melody, woozy beats and textured guitars shimmer around Dani's gorgeous harmonies, her ethereal vocal every bit as luscious as the melody, it soothes your pains and captures your mind, a magical kind of beauty.

The track is taken from the duo's debut full length due later this year, don't miss that (or their previous tracks here if you missed them first time around). They played their first live show last Saturday, it won't be their last...

Lockets - New Music "Introducing"

I'm finally starting to get my way towards the back end of the Christmas back-log, in and amongst the deluge was a little gem from a dream-pop duo from Philadelphia (with a second track since added). Lockets have released their debut tracks "Camera Shy" and "Catch Me" for free via the (now) usual methods of soundcloud / bandcamp and available below.

"Camera Shy" is utterly gorgeous, Dani's soft and dreamy vocals warm the heartstrings whilst Todd's synths and effects add hazy, woozy layers of sumptuous noise before at the three minute mark screeching guitar transform the soothing melody into something slightly more sinister. The track though still retains the sort of blissful slow-motion ambience which will lead it to be the soundtrack for many a young lover this winter.

Their second track "Catch Me", with its more upbeat, jaunty rhythm sees their sweet pop songs develop a level, where "Camera Shy" is the equivalent of a loved-up start to a new relationship "Catch Me" is the chase beforehand, with layers of swirling synths and a purposeful beat it's certainly slicker, catchier and urgent yet nevertheless retains the same silky, ethereal vocals and beautiful melody that's enough to make this new, young band another to be pretty excited about.
