Young Romance build up to the release of their debut single "Pale" (out next week via Banquet Records) with the stream of the flip side "Break My Heart By Morning". It's a new/old song which deserves it's own moment in the spotlight based purely on the fact that it's an absolute belter...

The track begins with a melodic bass solo before Claire's astonishing, bittersweet vocals fill the air around racing guitar shimmers and driving beats, soon morphing into an urgent, dynamic indie-pop beauty "Break My Heart By Morning" is the sort of track the nation should be waking up to on every radio station. It's been a quiet year at face value for Young Romance, a band whom I discovered in the summer of 2012 through their incredible track "Follow On Your Own". 2013 has been spent mainly behind the scenes until the recent news that the band are set to release their official debut single "Pale" early next year, it's enough to propel them into this list and hopefully fulfill my initial quote of 'my new favourite thing'.

"Follow On Your Own" is one of those rare tracks that makes your jaw hit the floor the first time you here it, switching from big, bold choruses with strong drums and fuzzy guitar to pure, sweet pop verses at the flutter on an eyelid, I fell in instant love with it and it should have been one of the biggest indie-pop hits of the year yet it sits with less than two thousand soundcloud plays because people are crazy like that...

Their return "Pale" is another blisteringly good song , blowing away any cobwebs with a fuzzed up introduction of jagged guitars and fast-paced drums. Bigger and heavier than anything they've done before it retains the band effortless knack of combining charm with emotion and Claire's beautiful, pure vocals sound as gorgeous as ever.

Pale is released February 24th via Banquet Records and is available to order on limited 7" now - go get one.

I only discovered this late last night, how I missed it, I have no idea... "Pale" is the blisteringly good new song by the impeccable Young Romance, their first after a quiet start to 2013 bursts the cobwebs away straight off the bat with a fuzzed up introduction of jagged guitars and fast-paced drums.

Bigger and heavier than anything they've done before, it retains the band effortless knack of combining charm and emotion and Claire's beautiful, powerful vocals sound as perfect as ever, "Pale" is here to pick up the mantle I first gave to the London based duo after the track which introduced me, "Follow On Your Own", my 'new favourite band'...

No release news yet. Young Romance have a few dates coming up including one with Flowers and Fever Dream on June 29th - details - if you aren't at Glastonbury, I command you to attend (well, if you live somwhere near London too)

Young Romance #2 - Wild (Demo)

Since I did my "Introducing" piece on Young Romance in the middle of last month I've become increasingly hooked on the young London based duo, my iTunes library, a source of some of my geeky statistical knowledge states I've listened to the incredible "Follow On Your Own" over thirty times already, with "Swollen Hearts, Bitten Tongues" not too far behind that. My feelings towards the band were only increased after a beautiful acoustic performance from Claire and Paolo for one of my Beautiful Strange nights (which also happened to be part of my birthday celebrations) at the end of July, drawing only one criticism from a few of my non-musical friends in attendance, the set was too short.

It's pretty easy to work out why I've become so obsessed with the band if you listen to an acoustic demo for a brand new track, "Wild", seemingly written and recorded just a few days ago (I do love the 21st century!), slow, delicate fingerpickings provide the simple, gentle melody for Claire's beautiful lead vocals to perfectly harmonise with Paolo's hushed backings, "Wild" gives me that warm, tingling sensation, yes, I love Young Romance.

Young Romance - New Music "Introducing"

One of the main reasons why I still enjoy running a fan-based blog after a couple of years is that you're still capable of finding something new that makes you go "wow". Of course if I wasn't running a blog there is every chance I'd still find that (and actually have time to listen to more of the artists that I feature rather than searching for the next days/weeks/months posts) but it's a great reward for the hours I spend listening to music each and every day (although I've been slack this week having moved house and my inbox has tripled).

One such moment happened at the start of last week when I discovered London duo, Claire and Paolo, Young Romance, who came to my attention when they jumped in to take the place of the wonderful Joanna Gruesome at an Indietracks warm-up at Brixton Windmill last week - I couldn't go, I was hosting my own with Tender Trap, September Girls and Cosines (it was a wonderful evening) - but I listened to their track "Follow On Your Own" and got that tingling sensation that signals something like 'I've found one'.

"Follow On Your Own" is incredible, switching from big and bold choruses with strong drums and fuzzy guitar to pure, sweet pop verses at the flutter on an eyelid, it's instant and incredible. Obviously I hear a lot of voices and it's a bloggers right to have about half a million 'favourite' things but Claire's voice is absolutely stunning, possessing a devastating range and delivering power and emotion with seemingly effortless ease I don't think I could have asked for a better introduction to the band.

That track came from their self-titled EP (which you can download for free via Eardrums pop), a vinyl release is planned via the ever excellent Oddbox Records - I'll most likely update you on that when I can! 

I got similarly excited when I discovered earlier track "Swollen Hearts, Bitter Tongues" via soundcloud, a beautiful song that should cause many heart to go aflutter, simply gorgeous.

Anway, I'll have to end the superlatives there, it's almost one am and I'm due to go to Latitude Festival in a few hours, let Young Romance into your life, you won't regret it...
