Whilst writing the earlier Call Me post I discovered I'd missed a new track by the wonderful School and decided that there is no time quite like the present to play catch-up, especially when the song "Head Over Here" is quite this brilliantly catchy.
Returning to the exhilarating indie-pop melody of their debut track "SoLong", "Head Over Here" is the Gothenburg quartet's finest, brightest moment yet and combines Alice's swooning way with words with a galloping rhythm section and buoyant guitar shimmers, the result is a trip down memory lane guaranteed to lift your mood and have you tapping your toes - get it on your summer mix-tape now.
"Head Over Here" is available to download now via Luxury. Posting about other labels shall resume tomorrow!

School #2 - Clouds Aside
Facebook
Just last week I featured Göteborg four-piece School's exciting debut track "SoLong", they return this with their second "Clouds Aside" to continued plaudits.
This track is a steadier, more atmospheric affair which similarly broods around bass-heavy chords, twanging guitars and romantic vocals, dusky and expressive, it reminds me of the less mainstream moments of fellow Swede's The Cardigans, now that wouldn't be a bad career to follow....

School - New Music "Introducing"
Facebook
I discovered this song over Christmas and it definitely deserves its belated exposure here, the debut track by Sweden's (Gothenburg's to be precise) School (with apologies to my introducer, I do like to reference my source but I never had a link saved this time).
"SoLong" (one word) bristles with excitable drums patterns, New Order inspired bass-lines and shimmering guitars textures which is a paragraph likely enough to have interested all by itself but when you factor in lead-vocalist Alice Botéus' sweetly compelling way with words and a brilliantly addictive melody, you'll be even more excited after pressing play.
The track is available via Bandcamp now. My one's to watch list grows a name.
