London Gig Guide September - October

Okay, here is part two of the London Gig Guide, I went to all but one of last month's recommended gigs and a few more. My listing of recommended gigs for the next 30 days or so will soon be covered. I'm probably going to more gigs out of London than in London this month, but I'll keep this gig guide based in the Capital.

Winner of gig of the month for the last month has to be Wildbirds & Peacedrums at The Lexington on the 26th August, read back for my gushing review of it post gig - it really was out of this world.

Runner up goes to Caitlin Rose at The Latest Bar in Brighton on the 14th, I didn't get home until 2.30 am, but it was worth it. Sublime, her band in top form, an electric version of Shotgun Wedding and a wonderful cover of Randy Newman's "Marie".

Okay, enough of that rambling:

Monday 20th September: Sea of Bees: Slaughtered Lamb, Farringdon: £5.00 from http://www.wegottickets.com/event/90163
Wonderful debut album out now, never heard of her? Do yourself a favour and check her beautiful music out.

Bit of a slow week or is it me? Glad as I'm away anyway!

Tuesday 28th September: Deer Tick and Caitlin Rose at Cargo in London, UK
Caitlin will be playing solo, but seriously supporting in a 600/700 capacity venue still - get involved and catch Deer Tick too. Call Venue for tickets, so there are only a handful left. If that's completely gone, around the corner there is this:

Dum Dum Girls at XOYO - well there is if they've finally finished painting! http://www.wegottickets.com/event/92076

Wednesday 29th September: I am gutted I cannot make this but I cannot so you'll have to enjoy it instead:
Stricken City and Bear Mask with Let's Buy Happiness at The Bull & Gate, Kentish Town - £6.00

That's going to be a bit good. I want to hear Losing Colour live again and I want to hear Corridors again because it sounded like a monster last month at The Old Queen's Head

Thursday 30th September: Grass Widow and Trash Kit at Old Blue Last £6.00 - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/84223

Friday 1st October: Frankie & the Heartstrings with Summer Camp and Neat at The Lexington  - SOLD OUT - I'm not that fussed about Frankie in all honesty but Summer Camp and The Neat are more than worth the entrance fee. This is sold out but the same show (well Frankie and Summer Camp have an additional show on the 8th - £8.50 http://www.wegottickets.com/event/90275)

Sunday 3rd October: The Airborne Toxic Event at Union Chapel - SOLD OUT -
Yeah, sorry if you haven't got a ticket you ain't coming to this one. Will be great. I love TATE, a proper rock and roll show. Well it might not be at Union Chapel as it's an acoustic evening with, it'll still be grand though!

Monday 4th October: Caitlin Rose at The Social, £6.00 http://www.wegottickets.com/event/92486
Come and say farewell (well for six weeks!) to Caitlin in a headlining solo show at The Social. Will be my seventh time of this tour, cannot wait for it. Not many tickets left. XOYO show in November with full band if you miss out.

Wednesday 6th October: O.Children with Factory Floor and Hype Williams at Elgar Room - £7.50 http://www.wegottickets.com/event/92885
What a great line-up!

Thursday 7th October: Blood Red Shoes with Male Bonding and 2:54 at Electric Ballroom - http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=383535
Yeah, this one has a great line-up. Looking forward to hearing 2:54 live and BRS are well BRS - awesome!

Thursday 14th October: The Joy Formidable at Koko - £11.00 - http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user/?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=396405
Yes, TJF - need I say any more?! No. You can win a pair of tickets by heading to my competition (well it's not a competition really it involved the click of a mouse button

Friday 15th October: Anaïs Mitchell at Downstairs At The King's Head  - http://www.wegottickets.com/event/91241
I have no idea how this isn't sold out. It's not going to be a full Hadestown show (Why isn't Hadestown in the west end?) but it's going to be amazing still.

Monday 18th October: Soap&Skin at Union Chapel - £13.50 http://www.ticketweb.co.uk/user?region=gb_london&query=detail&event=371765
I've been looking forward to this gig for forever after the ash cloud saw it postponed. Make sure you come to this - special is written through it.

Tuesday 19th October: ILL FIT @ THE SOCIAL, LONDON W1 Echo Lake + Over The Wall + Still Corners: FREE!
Don't know much about this one yet, but it's hosting by TLOBF and Still Corners are playing, never heard of the other two bands, I guess I best give them a spin.
That's about 30 days - not sure if I'm missed something - if I have I'll sneak it into the post! See you in a month!
