It's been pretty quiet on the Zola Jesus front this year, besides a short North American tour there's been some well-earned rest after two years worth of almost continual releases and touring.
That changed (a little) when ZJ's label Sacred Bones put out a release for Record Store Day, the closing track is an acoustic version of "Run Me Out" from Stridulum which features nothing more than a brooding Nika Roza Danilova playing an achingly beautiful piano solo ballad with a heavy thunderous beat.
Nika is back in the UK playing Field Day in August, can't wait for that - the line-up is stupidly good and features ZJ, Warpaint, Anika, Glasser, Still Corners, Echo Lake and so much more. See here.
