I'm getting all nostalgic at the moment, over the next month I have gigs lined-up to see Suede, Franz Ferdinand and first-up, at the end of this week We Are Scientists, a band I've been following since their frequent Editors support slot days back in 2005. The trio can always be relied upon for a fun show full of upbeat guitar and banter like no other.
Their debut album was a real treat, their second equally wonderful and Barbara had its moments too, this, their new single contains two new tracks and serves as a welcome stop-gap before album four. Lead track "Something About You" sounds distinctly We Are Scientists, that should be enough of a write-up to make you decide if you think it's your thing or not; all trademark hooks and catchy lyrics, quick, snappy and full of bounce, simply put, a huge burst of fun.
"Let Me Win" is more of a departure with woozy guitar lines and washed-out vocals more psychedelic ballad than indie-pop dance-floor filler - it works though - a perfect summers single.
The 7" single was released today in the UK via 100% Records, if you fancy grabbing one head here.
