Adrianne Lenker - New Music "Introducing"

Facebook adriannelenker.bandcamp.com

Adrianne Lenker in a New York based singer-songwriter whom sounds like she could have existed at any point over the last fifty years, armed with an honey-toned voice which sounds as timeless as her organic finger-plucked acoustic guitar and tender, versatile song-craft.

Her debut album Hours Were The Birds was released digitally last week and is available to buy via Bandcamp now. Focusing on the tracks available on Soundcloud, "Lighthouse" is fabulous and melodic with strong, rambling guitar forming driving the track along with foot-tappingly upbeat mood which at the same time is both deeply emotive and dramatic, it reminds me (and as mentioned as comparisons in the email I received which formed as my introduction to Adrianne) of the style of Dylan and a I Speak Because I Can era Laura Marling, exhibiting worldly experience and intensity rarely heard today.

"Indiana" is perhaps my favourite of the tracks, flowing with a breadth of wistful poetry and a sparkling tapestry of acoustic guitar, Adrianne's beautiful fingerpicking and sweet voice is an absolute joy whilst "Steamboat" combines the passionate, intricate nature of songwriting heard throughout with gorgeous harmonies guaranteed to make you glow just a little bit brighter than before you heard it.

Fresh, intimate and captivating Hours Were The Birds promises to be the best $7 you'll spend this week... Bandcamp.
