I got home yesterday knackered after a night at Bush Hall being blown away by the powerful voices of soon to be the best synth band on the plant, Light Asylum's Shannon Funchess and Bonjay's Alanna Stuart. I was most definitely in need of something more tranquil, something to sooth and relax my aching bones (I went running first!), thankfully I found that in the very first mail I looked at.
Toy Camera, a collaboration between Steph Thompson (Steffaloo) and Drew Harris (Germany Germany) have just released their first single entited "Tall Trees" (available as a free download on their bandcamp page). It's only their first track, but certainly enough to perk up some anticipation for their next release.
"Tall Trees" is an absolutely gorgeous, Drew provides the synth work, his ambient, minimal club beats provide the perfect platform for Steph's vocals (I'm yet to listen to her solo work, I reckon I've missed a trick...). Her voice is the definition of beautiful, ethereal whispers float around soothing your mind like a dreamy lullaby. Listen to it now:
